The prosecution has closed its case in the murder trial of Robert Abrahim, who is accused of killing a labourer at Long Creek in 2008.
State prosecutors Renita Singh and Diana Kaulessar presented their last witness to the court yesterday, when the trial continued before Justice Dawn Gregory in the High Court.
The state’s case against Abrahim, who is represented by attorney Hukumchand, is that he allegedly pushed a cutlass down the throat of Ganesh Singh, which resulted in his death.
Singh, who was a labourer, died on January 11, 2008, at Long Creek, where the incident took place. He was allegedly involved in an argument with the accused, who retaliated by pushing a cutlass into his mouth.
Abrahim had told police in his statement that he and the accused had an argument and he put his cutlass out with his hand but Singh ran into it.
The case will continue on Thursday.
