A man accused of assaulting another with a hammer was granted $30,000 bail when he yesterday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on February 1, at James Street, Albouystown, Lenny Fraser unlawfully assaulted Abdul Safi Khan. Fraser, who was unrepresented by counsel, pleaded not guilty to the charge of malicious wounding when Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry read it to him.
Police Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick told the court that on the day in question Khan was working on a house at the said location when he and Fraser had a confrontation.
Fraser became annoyed and allegedly hit Khan with a hammer.
The matter was reported and Fraser was arrested. The prosecution did not object to Fraser being granted bail.
Fraser was ordered to return to court on March 8.
