Earl Peters was yesterday sentenced to one year and three years imprisonment on two charges of robbery and Magistrate Leron Daly ordered that the sentences run consecutively.
Peters, 31, was charged on November 16, last year with stealing close to $1 million in cash and items from a couple in the city.
The case against Peters, a labourer of Lot 31 Poud-eroyen, West Bank Demerara was that on November 14, in Georgetown, he stole a BlackBerry Bold smartphone and a handbag, valued $74,000 in total, property of Katherine Persaud.
On the same day, the court was told, Peters stole $920,000, property of Rajindra Persaud.
The prosecution had told the court that Peters broke into the virtual complainants’ car and stole the items.
Peters was tried and Magistrate Daly yesterday found him guilty and imposed the sentences.
