Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) John Tracey was remarkable on the golf course Saturday, winning the Stag Beer Mashramani tournament.
Tracey shot net 61, one of the better scores recorded at the Lusignan Course in an almost perfect performance at the tournament sponsored by Ansa Mc Al Trading which attracted 36 golfers.
“I putted and chipped well and my second shots were on target, I did well today,” he told Stabroek Sport at the end of the match.
Not often scores of net 61 are recorded at the Lusignan Club but President Jerome Khan attributed the feat to the excellent conditions of the Course.
Tracey playing of 15 handicap shot a gross 76 which was also the best gross of the day.
Munaff Arjune placed second with net 68 from gross 75 playing off a 7 handicap.
Three players, Carlos Adams, Gavin Todd and Patrick Prashad ended with net 70 but Adams with (25-95-70) secured the third place on a count back.
Ayube Ali had the longest drive on hole number six while teenage golfer Orlando Deo was Nearest to the Pin.
Among the participants were Ansa McAl Trading Marketing Director Troy Cadogan and Carib Brewery Export Manager Scot McSween who is on a short visit to Guyana.
Khan expressed thanked Ansa Mc Al and Stag Beer for sponsoring the competition for another year as it coincides with Guyana’s Republican status and Mashramani celebrations.
According to Khan, the Club has intensified its development drive and said that sponsorship is the lifeline of the Club so members look forward to companies like Ansa Mc Al for their contribution.
Ansa Mc Al Public Relations Officer Dharshnie Yussuf said her company appreciated the support of players including visitors to the Club.
She acknowledged Ansa McAl’s contribution to the sport and indicated that the company will be sponsoring the tournament again next year.
Ming’s product and Services will sponsor the next tournament on March 2 at the Club starting at 12:30 hours.
