Phonda Rose, the daughter of murdered security guard Patricia Rose, collapsed in court yesterday while giving evidence and had to be taken to the hospital.
The young woman is the main prosecution witness in the murder trial of 65-year-old Kubert George, her mother’s former lover, who allegedly stabbed her on November 1, 2008.
Justice Navindra Singh began hearing the case yesterday, and Rose is expected to return today to give additional evidence.
Six witnesses, including Rose, testified in court
yesterday.
Patricia Rose died on May 8, 2009 after she was allegedly stabbed by George on November 1, 2008.
George is represented by attorney Peter Hugh while the state’s case is being led by Dhanika Singh and Konyo Thompson.
Patricia Rose, 44, of Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara, was attacked while she was on duty as a security guard at the Georgetown School of Nursing, East Street. George had reportedly scaled the fence and stabbed the woman before escaping.
The trial continues today.
