Justice Roxane George, a 12-member jury and others yesterday visited the spot where Mark Caesar was gunned down as the trial of murder accused Dexter Marshall continued in the High Court.
The visit was done to facilitate a clear understanding of the fatal shooting. After the site visit, the trial continued in the courtroom with the prosecution presenting another witness, Leon George, while the brother of the deceased, Robin Jeffers, was crossed-examined by defence counsel Hukumchand.
State prosecutors Rhondel Weever and Natasha Backer are expected to call government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh, who is their final witness, before closing their case.
Marshall is on trial for the murder of Caesar, called ‘Lil Mark,’ in 2010. Caesar died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he suffered several gunshot wounds about the body in the attack.
Marshall was identified by the deceased’s brother, Jeffers, as one of the shooters in addition to a “skinny rasta man.” He had also told the court that his brother was on one side of Broad and Adelaide streets while he was on the opposite side. While he was there, he said, he saw a car turn into Broad Street and then into Adelaide Street. Two men then exited the back seat of the car with guns in their hands, and walked towards Caesar firing shots, which hit him, causing him to fall backwards.
The trial will continue today.
