A mother of nine, who allegedly left a three-year-old at home alone with another underage child, was yesterday released on $50,000 bail when she appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Omadelle Greene, 36, is accused of wilfully neglecting Rhonda Junior on February 19, at South Cummingburg; she denied the allegation.
The prosecution stated that on February 8, Greene was spoken to by probation officers about the children’s well-being after probation officers went to Greene’s home and discovered the three-year-old at home alone with an underage relative.
When asked by the magistrate if the children who remained in Greene’s care were removed, the prosecution responded in the affirmative and objected to the woman being granted bail.
However, the magistrate granted Greene her pre-trial liberty.
The matter will continue on March 18.
