Lambert leads Jamaica to four wicket win over CCC

KINGSTON, Jamaica,  CMC – A responsible all round effort from Captain Tamar Lambert led defending champions Jamaica to a four wicket victory over Combined Campuses and Colleges in their second round match of the Super50 Championship at Sabina Park here yesterday.
Lambert picked up two wickets for 39 runs to help bowl out CCC for 157 and shared in two crucial partnerships after Jamaica stumbled on the chase before coasting to 158 for six at Sabina Park.

The Jamaica captain received valuable support from Nikita Miller who crippled CCC batting by taking top figures of three for 27 and Andre McCarthy who hit a top score of 45.

CCC was reeling on 15 for two after Andrew Richardson dismissed openers Chadwick Walton and Shacoya Thomas for six runs each after the visitors won the toss and elected to bat.

But the combative Floyd Reifer fought off a persistent Jamaican bowling attack and featured in two middle order
which sought to fix the damage.

Reifer shared in a 55 run stand for the third wicket with Kyle Corbin which ended when Corbin became one of Miller’s three victims, stumped Carlton Baugh for a well played 24.

He also put together 33 runs with Nicholas Alexis who was caught by Nkrumah Bonner for 20 going after Lambert.

Reifer hit one six in a top score of 32 from 60 balls and kept the innings together for sometime  but  he was forced to walk after he was adjudged LBW to Odean Brown who also grabbed two wickets.

Apart from Reifer, Corbin and Alexis, no other CCC batsman got into the twenties as they struggled to post another 46 runs at the expense of the final five wickets.

CCC stunned the champions by sending back opener Jermaine Blackwood and Nkrumah Bonner for ducks inside the first two overs of the new innings.
CCC players, inspired by early wickets, sought to press the advantage as Jamaica plunged to 57 for three at one stage.

But Andre McCarthy hit back by top scoring with a powerful 45, highlighted by two sixes and four fours, to put the home side back on course to victory.
Lambert hit a six and struck two fours in reaching the second highest score of 34 to further consolidate the Jamaica innings.
The skipper added 47 runs with McCarthy and 33 with Dave Barnard Jnr (28) as Jamaica coasted to victory.
