(Trinidad Express) BOLLYWOOD mega-star Shahrukh Khan is coming to Trinidad and Tobago to headline a concert that will cost TT$2,500 a ticket.
The star will be the main performer at the one-time concert to be held at Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre in April.
The all-inclusive price includes dinner and unlimited access to the alcoholic and dessert bar. Also there will be an all-night beverage station offering a variety of international coffee and tea.
The concert is catering for 950 patrons.
It is the first of several scheduled to take place during a tour entitled Mohabbat 2013. Mohabbat means love in Hindi.
The tour includes visits to Guyana and ten cities in the US, said Crystal Mulchan, head of marketing and promotions of Elite Entertainment Ltd, which is organising the tour.
Other performers for the concert in Trinidad include famed Indian singers
Udit Narayan and Asha Bhonsle, with guest appearances by actresses Bipasha Basu and Rani Mukherjee. They will be accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra from India.
Mulchan said the upcoming event will be the first international Bollywood all-inclusive concert.
She said the company wanted to have “a Bollywood concert with a difference.”
“We didn’t just want to have another concert. We wanted to create a different type of setting with the ambience and everything. The reason why we wanted to have a small audience was so that they will be up close and personal with the performers. There is no VIP or anything like that. Everybody will be on one level. It would not just be a concert. Shahrukh Khan will be interacting with the audience also.”
The artistes will vary for the US concerts.
Mulchan said, ” We have to look at what the people will want in Trinidad and Guyana. The markets are very different to those in the US so we will be having different artistes for those shows. The market is very big in Trinidad where entertainment is concerned but where the Indian concert is concerned it is not very big. So we want to have a different kind of entertainment.”
All performers for the concert including Khan will be staying at the Hilton Trinidad.
Mulchan said Khan is expected to arrive on April 8. The concert takes place on April 13 from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Tickets are available at all branches of See VU Optical Ltd at San Fernando, Chaguanas and Princes Town. For further information, persons can call 657-2618.
