Magistrate Sueanna Lovell yesterday sentenced tattoo artist Mark Fidel to 12 months jail after he was found guilty of stabbing another man about the body after trial at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Twenty-one-year-old Fidel, of 80 Brickdam, was found guilty of unlawfully wounding Hamere Alexander, 19, of 30 Section ‘Y’ La Grange WBD, on March 6, 2010 at Regent Street.
In handing down her ruling, the magistrate said that the defendant stabbed Alexander several times about his body.
The defendant said that he has no idea how the virtual complainant (VC) came about his injuries.
Magistrate Lovell said that the court is satisfied beyond reasonable doubt and that the prosecution has proven its case against the defendant. She further went on to say that the VC identified Alexander as the person who committed the act.
The magistrate also asked Fidel if he had anything to say before she handed down the sentence, to which he replied in the negative.
On March 6, 2010, Alexander and Fidel were on Regent Street when an argument began and subsequently a fight broke out. The accused, who allegedly had a sharp instrument in his possession, inflicted several stab wounds on Alexander and subsequently made good his escape.
The defendant was later seen on July 8, 2010 and he was arrested and taken to the police station where he was pointed out by Alexander. He was later charged.
