Dear Editor,
I cannot avoid noticing the double standards that are being applied by the current government in Guyana given the manner in which it is facilitating the licensing and operation of radio and TV media operations in various Guyanese locations.
Editor, freedom of the press is not just about allowing reporters and journalists to write their reports, analyses and commentaries in an objective and unbiased manner; but it also involves the prevailing government allowing eligible entrepreneurs to be allocated frequencies where they are needed throughout the length and breadth of Guyana.
In the final analysis no partisan or prejudiced limits should be placed on providing a voice for the voiceless; we are well aware of the questionable manner in which the present administration is dealing with applications for radio and TV licences.
