BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC-Captain Kirk Edwards is on the verge of scoring his second century as Barbados leads Combined Campuses and Colleges by 61 runs on the first day of their regional four day match yesterday.
Edwards was unbeaten on 93 as Barbados powered to 170 without loss after CCC were bundled out for 109 in their first innings.
Pacer Chris Jordan destroyed the CCC batting, ripping through the top and middle order to finish with seven wickets for 43 runs.
The Bajan captain has already batted for 193 minutes facing 141 balls and is confidently coasting along to a second three figure total after his composed 120 led Barbados to a 93 run win over Guyana in the last match.
Edwards is receiving solid support from Kraigg Brathwaite who is undefeated on 55 after facing 141 balls.
Barbados may look to compile a huge second innings total and attempt to bowl out CCC cheaply, again, in their second innings in search of full points.
Earlier, CCC were in all sorts of problems as they struggled desperately to build partnerships and boost the scoring rate.
Only Kyle Corbin and Shacaya Thomas weathered Jordan’s pace to any extent scoring 26 and 21 respectively in their total of 109.
Barbados’s other outstanding bowler was Ashley Nurse with 2 for 20.
