A man was yesterday sentenced to serve a nine-month prison term after he admitted to stealing tables and gas bottles from the Ministry of Education.
Richard La Rose, 28, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
The court heard that on February 22, at Georgetown, he stole a metal cabinet, valued at $80,000, four metal tables, valued at $100,000, 20 metal desks, valued at $200,000 and two bottles containing gas, all totaling $462,000 and property of the Ministry of Education.
When La Rose, who was unrepresented by an attorney, pleaded guilty, Magistrate Lovell asked him if he understood she could immediately sentence him. The man replied “yes” and told the magistrate that was accepting responsibility for his actions. He said he had no pending or previous matters before the court.
He was subsequently sentenced.
