(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica – Rushon Hamilton the policeman convicted for the murder of 14-year-old Jhaneel Goulbourne was sentenced to life in prison in the Supreme Court yesterday morning.
He is the serve 35 years before being eligible for parole.
Home Circuit judge Lloyd Hibbert in his sentencing decided against the death penalty for Hamilton who allegedly dumped the victim’s body at sea.
The prosecution had indicated that it would be seeking the death penalty for Hamilton, accused of having a sexual relationship with the underage Goulbourne, which led to her murder.
