CAVE HILL, Barbados, CMC – Dominant Barbados crushed Combined Campuses and Colleges by an innings and 185 runs inside three days, to post their second straight win in the Regional Four-Day Championship here yesterday.
Resuming the penultimate day on 365 for nine at 3W’s Oval, Barbados added seven runs before they were dismissed for 372, with Miguel Cummins falling leg before wicket for two offering no stroke to fast bowler Kevin McClean.
Wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich, who started the day on 51, finished unbeaten on 56 in an innings spanning 195 minutes, 132 balls and which contained three fours.
For the second time in the match, the CCC capitulated without so much as a whimper to be dismissed for a paltry 78.
Off-spinner Ashley Nurse (3-18) and seamer Jason Holder (3-22) destroyed the innings with three wickets apiece while fast bowlers Miguel Cummins (2-11) and Chris Jordan (2-15) supported with two scalps each.
Lower order batsman Akeem Dewar top scored with 22 but it was not enough to prop up the innings.
Behind by 263 on first innings, the CCC then crashed to 37 for seven before Dewar and McClean (13) put on 37 for the eighth wicket.
Dewar spent just over an hour at the crease and faced 48 balls while McClean struck a single boundary off 40 balls in 73 minutes.
When Dewar was taken down the leg side by Dowrich off Jordan, the end came swiftly for the CCC who have now lost both their outings.
