The Noble House Seafoods second division, two day cricket competition will resume today and tomorrow after persistently wet weather forced a postponement.
Just one match has been scheduled for this weekend however with the Georgetown Cricket Club visiting the Muslim Youth Organization ground to take on the Guyana Defence Force.
The match is a crucial fixture as both teams aim to solidify their places among the top teams in a closely fought zone B.
The umpires will be Linden Matthews and Clyde Layne and they will call play at 11 a.m.
Of the remaining contenders for spots in the semi-finals, defending champions the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) heads Zone A thus far with 130 points from six matches.
Everest Cricket Club is just 10 points behind with 120 from six matches, Police Sports Club is third with 112 from five and Transport Sports Club fourth with 102 from five matches.
Despite a winning start against GNIC, Third Class lie on 82 points from five matches while the consistently woeful Ace Warriors and Vikings have 24 and 21 points respectively from four matches.
In Zone B the final rounds will be crucial for the University of Guyana, the Georgetown Cricket Club, the Guyana Defence Force and the Muslim Youth Organization. GCC are just one point ahead of second placed UG who have 110 points from six matches. However, having only played five matches, GCC will be favoured to finish at the top of the group upon completion of their seven matches.
GDF are third with 104 from five matches while MYO have 105 points with one match still to play.
The Demerara Cricket Club has amassed just 86 points in six matches while the Gandhi Youth Organization has 60 from four matches and Malteenoes Sports Club 53 from five.
