Patrick Lester, 58, of Golden Grove, died last night following an accident on the Public Road at Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara.
According to the police the accident occurred at about 22:45 hrs. Lester, a pedal cyclist, police said, was standing on the roadway with his bicycle, when he was struck down by a car, PPP 1181. Police said the driver of the car, who was above the legal limit in respect of the consumption of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle and struck a parked motor car and then struck Lester.
The driver of the motor vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
