Popular  Water Street mosquito net vendor Sonia Ragbar is grateful for the help from neighbours in saving her family’s  Second Street, Diamond home last evening from going up in flames.

Ragbar who lives at the Lot 87 Diamond New Housing Street property with her husband and five children said that shortly before 8 pm, her son was walking past her guestroom, which also has the house’s desktop computer, and decided to peek in when he saw a big blaze. She said that the fire of unknown origin, apparently began on a mattress which is stored in the room near to the computer station.

The woman explained that a fire extinguisher that is stored in the house malfunctioned .
Fire-fighters from the city arrived shortly after but saw that the fire was already extinguished. They will return today to continue investigations as to the cause of the fire.
