The Woodlands Hospital in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Science and Technology (RGUST) yesterday launched a 24-hour ambulance service.
In a press release, the hospital, on Carmichael Street, says it has entered into technical collaboration with RGUST which was established here last May with provisional accreditation from the National Accreditation Council.

Transportation cost for the use of the ambulance in Georgetown and its environs would be $4,000 to $6,000. Other charges such as for oxygen, medications, defibrillators and ventilator use will be additional. It has set transportation fees for use on other parts of the cost. For instance, from New Amsterdam to Number 51 Village it will cost $55,000 to $60,000 while between Farm and Parika on the West Demerara it will cost $30,000 to $40,000.
“This most modern and highly equipped ambulance will no doubt enhance the Guyanese health care system. This state of the art ambulance will be available twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. A number of highly qualified medical professionals are assigned to this ambulance with skills to handle any emergency situation”, the statement said.
RGUST is offering courses such as medicine, pre medicine, nursing , pharmacy etc.
