Two men were yesterday released on bail while another was remanded to prison after they were charged with burglarising a bond.
Azween Mohammed, 43, of Lot 8 Drysdale Street, Charlestown and Odingo Heywood were both released on $90,000 bail, while their co-accused Oriley Small, 28, was remanded to prison after Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court was told that he allegedly committed the burglary while on bail for a similar charge.
They denied the charge that between March 2 and March 3, at Princes Street, Charlestown, they broke and entered a bond and stole a quantity of speakers, two pot sets, nine Toshiba DVD players and a quantity of DVDs, all totalling $560,000 and property of Tyrone Baljet.
Further details about the burglary were not given to the court.
Small’s attorney, Adrian Thompson, said that his client, a taxi driver, posed no risk of flight.
Although in seeking bail Thompson stated that Small had no pending or previous matters before the court, Police Prosecutor Jomo Nichols objected, telling the court that he had committed the offence while on bail for another offence of a similar nature.
The magistrate subsequently refused Small bail while Heywood and Mohammed were granted bail in the sum of $90,000 each.
The matter will be called again on March 12.
