Helena one and two combined on Sunday defeated Strathavon by two wickets to win the East Coast Cricket Board’s President’s Cup second division limited overs competition at the Fairfield Community Centre ground.
Batting first, Strathavon reached 193-8 off their allotted overs with
Ganesh Hemraj, 31, Prakash Chowti, 21, Nandram Persaud, 20, Scott Mohammed, 20 Dhaniram Hemraj, 17 and Yaseer Bacchus 17, the principal scorers.
Shazad Ali 3 – 36 and Charlie Pitt 2 – 41 were the main wicket takers.
Helena 1 & 2 started badly losing two wickets for eight runs. However, Rohit Dutchin and Davendra Singh came together and batted with maturity consolidating the innings.
Dutchin ended on an unbeaten 110 as Helenan one and two combined reached 198-8 in 38.5 overs.
Steven Singh bagged 3 – 29 for Strathavon.
Dutchin was named man of the match.
