ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – Title-holders Jamaica conjured up a strong all-round effort to easily trounce Windward Islands by 78 runs and extend their unbeaten start to the Super50 Championship here yesterday.
They bounced back from losing a wicket without a run on the board to post 229 for nine from their 50 overs, after they were sent in at the National Stadium.
Danza Hyatt stroked an unbeaten 59, opener Nkrumah Bonner got 39 while Carlton Baugh carved out brisk unbeaten 37 at the death. Fast bowler Nelon Pascal finished with three for 57.
In reply, the Windwards suffered a meltdown to be bundled out for 151 off their 38.4 overs, with captain Liam Sebastien top scoring with 37.
Leg-spinner Odean Brown captured three for 19 while left-arm spinner Nikita Miller (2-23), seamer David Bernard Jr (2-26) and pacer Andrew Richardson (2-34) all finished with two wickets apiece.
The victory was the third straight for Jamaica following wins over Barbados and Combined Campuses and Colleges.
