A hat trick from Colin Peters supported by a brace from Keith Caines enabled South Ruimveldt to score a crushing 8-1 victory over North Georgetown as the Milo U20 schools football tournament continued at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue on Sunday.
Peters and Caines constantly tormented the North Georgetown side as they found space in a fixture played in a very open nature.
Peters scored in the 16th minute with a header as he opportunistically capitalized on a goal-keeping blunder after the North Georgetown `keeper parried the ball into his path.
Peters added to his tally and strengthened his team’s position on the stroke of half time with a well-taken strike to the bottom left corner in the 35th minute.
South Ruimveldt would quickly add to the lead one minute later compliments of a David George solo run and finish.
George neatly evaded his marker to easily slot home his team’s third goal.
Not to be outdone by the talented Peters, the wily Caines added to the goal onslaught by expertly volleying home a first time cross by the creative Jaleel Hamilton inside the 18-yard box.
Caines would increase his account in the 64th minute as he skillfully skipped past his marker before unleashing a beautiful curling effort that nestled in the bottom left corner, leaving the North custodian with simply no chance.
Completely dominating proceedings, Peters completed a well-deserved hat trick on the edge of regulation time converting a Jamain Beckles through ball in the 78th minute by tapping the ball home from just outside the box.
North Georgetown would concede a further two goals with Shaquan Simon and Martin Adams contributing to the collective effort in the 67th and 76th minutes respectively while a consolation goal by Tiatun Tiatun in the 73rd minute was the only bright spot for the North Georgetown unit.
In the other fixtures of the day, tournament favourites Tucville Secondary defeated North Ruimveldt Multilateral 3-0 with Shawn Hughes, Roland Mayers and Dorwin Filter on target in the 18thth, 37th and 70th minutes respectively while tournament success story Bishops’ High edged Dolphin Secondary 2-1 compliments of a Shamal Lewis double in the seventh and 48th minutes.
Samuel Hunte scored in a losing capacity in the ninth minute to conclude the day’s programmed encounters.
