Ansa McAl’s Marketing Manager Troy Cadogan’s run for the presidency of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) came to end on Thursday night.
According to information reaching Stabroek Sport, the management of Ansa Mcal Trinidad, informed Cadogan that his intention to contest the post at the upcoming GFF elections on April 12 was not in the best interest of the company. Cadogan recently was reported as having met with a number of associations with the hope of convincing them to support his candidacy.
Cadogan’s place has been taken by Aubrey Shanghai Major, the present GFF Organising Secretary and a Director of the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation.
Other members of the slate are Rawlson Adams, Vanessa Dickenson, Arron Fraser and Cadogan. Yesterday the amended slate was handed in to the GFF before the closing of nominations.
The West Demerara Football Association (WEFA) nominated the slate which was then seconded by the National Women’s Football Association.
There were reports that the East Coast Football Association (ECFA) had refused to second Cadogan’s nomination following a misunderstanding, but this was refuted by the ECFA President Rudolph Calendar.
“There is no truth in that. I am the president of East Coast and at no time at all did East Coast make any proposition to Mr. Cadogan in terms of being a nominee or being a seconder to his nomination as president of the GFF. I attended a presentation with Mr. Cadogan at New Thriving Restaurant and at no time a commitment was given from the East Coast Football Association,” said Callender. Efforts to get a comment from Cadogan proved futile.
