Transport Sports Club will face a stern test from the Guyana Defence Force at the Malteenoes Sports Club ground today and tomorrow when the Hadi’s World Incorporated sponsored Georgetown Cricket Association first division, two-day cricket competition continues this weekend with three matches.
Transport lost to Everest Cricket Club (ECC) by an innings last weekend with national team discard Rajendra Chandrika striking a double century while Chanderpaul Hemraj helped himself to a century.
The Guyana Defense Force will also be eager to rebound from defeat after collapsing against Malteenoes Sports Club in their last match.
Eddie Nicholls and Cyril Garnath will officiate in this match.
At Queenstown, the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) will play Police Sports Club with the umpires being Shannon Crawford and Hortence Isaacs.
DCC’s Kemol Savory will be eager to continue his rich vein of form which has seen him score a century and 92 in his last two matches. With former West Indies player Travis Dowlin also back in the side Police will face an uphill task after clinging on for a draw against the eorgetown Cricket Club last weekend.
At Camp Road, ECC will oppose the struggling Malteenoes Sports Club with umpires Montgomery Chester and Ryan Banwarie set to call play at 9:30 hours each day.
Malteenoes lost their last two matches convincingly while Everest has slowly been gaining momentum.
Where the Malteenoes batsmen have struggled for fluency, Everest’s experienced batting line up, which includes Chandrika, Hemraj and both Shivnarine and Tagenarine Chanderpaul (when they are available), have been able to post big scores.
