The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) edged St. Stanislaus hockey team 2-1 while All greys beat Everest Hikers 3-1 as action in the John Fernandes Insurance Service (JFIS) second division hockey league continued at the GCC ground, Bourda on Sunday.
Mark Scott in the 10th and Trevon Smith in the 22nd minutes were the goal scorers for GCC while Hilton Chester scored for St Stanislaus in the 29th minute.
In the opening game an evergreen All Greys outfit defeated Everest Hikers 3-1 with Guyana Hockey Board president Philip Fernandes opening the scoring for All Greys in the 15th minute after Colonel Heywood had given Hikers the early lead with his 11th minute strike.
All Greys added goals in the 21st through Azad DeAbreau while Timothy Jonas netted in the 54th minute.
Action in the JFIS second division league continues this weekend with four fixtures. On Saturday at 14:30hrs, Airbenders will take on Saints while All Greys will engage GCC in the feature contest at 16:00hrs. On Sunday at 14:30hrs, Old Fort will oppose Hikers in the opening match up and All Greys will tackle GCC in main match at 16:00hrs.
