In the SN letter, `Guyanese need to be more creative” (02-03-13), I agree with George Carrington completely on the need for Guyanese to be more creative and native in our artistic and other expressions.
Mr. Carrington rightly pointed out Guyanese expression originality is being stifled and seen in inferior light – especially by DJ’s who insist in imitating the Jamaican accent.
Something needs to be done to encourage more Guyanese imaginativeness and unorthodoxy. The media, for example, could give incentives to artistic expressions with an indigenous affection and singularity rather that which imitates a foreign genre. We have good reasons to be proud of our unique, colourful `and allusive Guyanese distinction; me prapa proud of how we taak!
