Former controversial Guyana Defence Force officer (GDF) Dorian Massay died suddenly early this morning, his employer, attorney-at-law Joe Harmon has confirmed.
Harmon, who is an APNU parliamentarian and himself a former member of the GDF, said he was utterly devastated by Massay’s sudden demise.
He said he understands that Massay, said to be in his thirties, died from a heart attack. Massay blogged on the Stabroek News website under the handle `Sandhurst’.
“He was always dedicated and aggressive about whatever he undertook,” Harmon said of his former assistant.
Massay, a vocal supporter of APNU, was a GDF cadet officer who had been sent on a course to the UK, but returned to Guyana a few years ago after being detained on several charges while on the course. He was later discharged from the army.
He was seen as a controversial individual and at one time faced charges along with another ex-army officer Oliver Hinckson relating to advocacy of terrorism and possession of military kit. The matter was later dismissed.
