The Ministry of Public Works will from March 25 begin paying passengers who had purchased tickets from EZjet in Guyana and who had submitted claims for reimbursement.
The Ministry in a release, according to GINA, stated that the payment will be made from the Security Bond that was paid to the Ministry. It said that the Ministry will pay those who have satisfied the criteria, following completion of the verification process.
Due to the large number of requests for reimbursement and the amount available for payout, persons will be refunded 64% of the cost of their tickets, the Ministry said.
Payment will commence on Monday from 09:00 hrs up to 11:00 hrs and from 13:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs at the Central Accounting Unit, Ministry of Public Works, Fort Street, Kingston, the release said.
Persons are required to take along proper identification in order to uplift payment.
Low-cost carrier EZjet collapsed spectacularly last year after a civil suit was filed against its owner Sonny Ramdeo in the US alleging embezzlement. He was later arrested by the FBI and faces trial in Florida on a series of charges.
