PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago crushed Combined Campuses and Colleges by eight wickets in a lopsided encounter, to march into the semi-finals of the Regional Super50 Championship here yesterday.
Playing at Queen’s Park Oval in the day/night affair, T&T bundled out CCC for a paltry 97 off 37.5 overs and then cruised to their target off 21.4 overs.
The victory earned the Trinidadians a bonus point as they won inside 30 overs, and the five points moved them to 17 points from four matches.
CCC were undermined by seamer Kevon Cooper who snatched five for 17 and leg-spinner Yannick Cariah, who picked up three for 14.
Wickets fell steadily from the outset and only tail-ender Kevin McClean with a top score of 26 made it past 20 and showed any resistance.
CCC were fighting back at 41 for two at one stage but lost five wickets for ten runs as Cooper routed the middle order.
Opener Adrian Barath then crafted an unbeaten 40, facing 69 balls and striking three fours and a six, to lead the T&T run chase.
He put on 40 for the first wicket with Lendl Simmons (19) before adding a further 44 for the second wicket with Justin Guillen (16).
