East Ruimveldt Secondary School and Mercury Fast Laners (MFL) athlete Tirana Mitchell yesterday afternoon received sponsorship from Ming’s Products and Services Limited to assist with her participation at the XLII CARIFTA Games in Bahamas, Nassau, from March 28-April 1.
Colin Ming, Director of the company, donated a cheque in the presence of the athlete’s amother, Coach of the CARIFTA Team, Mark Scott and Vice President of Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG), Gavin Hope.
Ming said that the sponsorship is long term adding that he hopes that the athlete will be encouraged as she pursues her athletic career.
“We were approached a while back to support Tirana Mitchell and we like Mitchell’s performance. I decided to come on board to see how far she can get in her athletics endeavors,” he stated.
Ming said he is hoping that Mitchell will win a medal at the CARIFTA Games in the girls U17 100m and 200m and is also hoping that the athlete will be able to attend the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
Scott, speaking on behalf of the AAG, expressed his gratitude to the Ming.
