Den Amstel Porknockers edged Pele FC 1-0 compliments of a Travis Hilliman 71st minute strike to book their quarterfinal spot as action in the Mayor’s Cup knockout football tournament continued at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Bourda on Thursday.
Gridlocked throughout the entire first period and much of the second, Den Amstel opened the scoring through a swift counter attack aft
er Jeffrey Perreira latched onto a long ball played by the goalkeeper and sent a perfect, weighted pass to Hilliman who clinically finished.
In the second encounter, GFC on the back of a Teshawn Blackman double in the 18th and 24th minutes upset Western Tigers 2-1 to advance to the quarterfinal round.
Devon Millington was on target in the 28th minute for Western Tigers.
