Georgetown defeated the East Bank and East Coast teams in successive matches as the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Inter Association U-15 cricket competition got underway this week at the Everest Sports Club ground.
On Thursday they defeated East Bank by seven wickets with 38.5 of their allotted 50 overs remaining.
Batting first, East Bank were bowled out for 60. None of the East Bank’s batsmen reached double figures. Half of the team’s total came from extras courtesy of the Georgetown team’s largesse. Basker Yadram ended with three wickets for four runs.
Chasing 61 for victory Georgetown reached 65-3 with Ronaldo Mohamed 32 not out. Bhojnarine Singh picked up 2-17.
Georgetown’s second win yesterday was a bit more challenging as the East Coast team scored 111 all out in 40 overs. Clevon McEwan’ 41 held the innings together along with excellent bowling from Andrew Clifford and Ashmead Nedd who bagged seven wickets between them for Georgetown.
Reeaz Mohamed was the only batsman to pass 20 for East Coast.
Georgetown, in reply, scored 114-3 with Clevon McEwan 41 the top scorer.
Shane Chatooram picked up one wicket for nine runs bowling for East Coast.
The action continues today at 9:00hrs as Georgetown seeks a third consecutive win when they face West Demerara at Everest Cricket Club while East Coast Demerara will come up against East Bank Demerara at the Demerara Cricket Club Ground in Queenstown.
