Victims of the fire in Albouystown, in which 11 persons lost their home last Thursday, received donations on Friday from the Masjid Najim and Social Centre in Albouystown.
Public Relations Officer for Guyana Islamic Trust Albouystown masjid, Omar Cooper stated that the donations were received from Gafoors Inc and a private citizen, identified as “Mr Haniff,” who decided to make a small donation to the family after their tragedy was reported in the press.
Some of the items donated included a mattress, stove, sheet sets and a quantity of rations.
A fire of unknown origin on Thursday morning destroyed the two-storey Lot 145 James and Victoria streets, Albouystown house. Among the occupants were six children and an elderly, paralysed man.
