A collision between a Toyota Tundra and a smaller vehicle referred to as an `Iron Horse’ on D’Urban Street near to Smyth Street has left the driver of the smaller vehicle hospitalized while the other made an expedited exit from the scene.
62-year-old Campton Narine of South Ruimveldt, the driver of the smaller vehicle, was nursing leg and arm injuries up to late last evening after being taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by public-spirited citizens. Residents said that the man had to be removed through the rear of his car due to the extent of the damage done to the car’s front end.
One passing motorist shared that the same Tundra had passed him on D’Urban Street a few corners from where he eventually collided with the other vehicle.
Residents say that the smaller vehicle was moving east along D’Urban when the speeding Tundra, heading west, ploughed into the car with such force that the car spun around. The Tundra allegedly stopped after hitting the smaller car, some distance from where they had collided.
According to the residents, most persons rushed to the aid of the driver of the car since his vehicle seemed to have sustained most of the damage. They said that the driver of the Tundra appeared dazed when person flocked his vehicle, but said that he bolted from the scene as soon as his path was cleared.
