A teenager was remanded to prison after he was charged with robbery under arms, when he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell on Friday.
It is alleged that on March 13 at Lamaha Street, Kitty, Kiev Allicock, 18, of Second Street, Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, being armed with a gun, robbed Mohammed Najeer of a black Perry Ellis wallet valued $6,000, $2,000, a gold ring valued $60,000 and a Scotiabank ATM card valued $1,000, all totalling $69,000.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Allicock’s lawyer Paul Fung-a-Fat told the court that the police had discharged a round at the virtual complainant (VC). He argued that the police held his client who is totally innocent of the charge levelled against him.
Fung-a- Fat asked that his client be granted bail in a reasonable sum.
Allicock told the court that he is a labourer and he was charged before with being in possession of a gun. However, he said, that charge was dismissed.
Police Prosecutor Denise Booker objected to bail on the ground that the robbery was committed with a gun. She also cited the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.
Allicock was refused bail. The matter will be called again on April 22.
