St. George’s Secondary proved it’s not how you start but how you finish as they were crowned inaugural Milo U20 football champions defeating South Ruimveldt in the final on sudden death kicks at the Ministry of Education Ground Carifesta Avenue on Saturday.
Locked nil all throughout regulation and extra time intervals, St. George’s compliments of eventual tournament most valuable player (MVP) and best custodian recipient Royston Dublin converted the winning sudden death kick, earning his side the right to be called the best team in the jurisdiction.
While in the third place playoff powerhouse Tucville Secondary rebounded from their disappointing semi final exit to easily dispose of Carmel Secondary 5-1 compliments of a Keifer Brandt double scored in the 75th and 79th minutes.
Providing able support was Dorwin Filter, Shamar Wilson and Samuel Dublin who added their names to the scorer’s sheet in the 25th, 32nd and 85th minutes respectively while tournament top scorer and eventual goal boot winner Marlon Nedd was on target in a losing cause in the 52nd minute.
Upon the completion of the tournament, the top four schools will each earn their institutions $200,000 first place, $100,000 second place, $50,000 third place and $25,000 fourth place respectively in kind.
