Nigel James, 29, was yesterday placed on a total of $15,000 bail at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, after he pleaded not guilty to resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
It is alleged that on March 20, at Sophia, James, of lot 347 South ‘A’ Field, Sophia, resisted arrest and unlawfully assaulted police constable David France who was acting in the execution of his duty.
No details of what transpired on the date in question were provided to the court.
Prosecution had no objection to bail.
Magistrate Alex Moore placed James on $10,000 bail for the charge of assault and $5,000 for resisting arrest.
He will make his next court appearance on April 22 for report and fixtures.
