A policeman was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 after he was charged with assault when he made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
It was alleged that on December 18, 2012, at Charlotte and Wellington streets, Dexter Ross, 28, unlawfully assaulted Hu Yu Nan, so as to cause him actual bodily harm.
Ross pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Alan Wilson.
Ross’ attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat made an application that his client be admitted to reasonable bail because he is a police officer and at the time of the incident he was executing his duties.
He also noted that his client has a fixed place of abode
