Dear Editor,
I was driving down Carifesta Avenue yesterday morning when I happened to glance over at the National Park where I was stunned and horrified to see the most emaciated cream-coloured pony standing there looking as if it was about to drop dead from starvation. I thought that it might be ill, however to my horror I then looked at another brown and white pony only to see that it was in the same shocking condition. There can be no acceptable excuse for this inhumane treatment of these lovely ponies, the National Park is full of grass for these animals to graze on and trenches with water for them to drink from if no one can be bothered to feed and water them, but as you don’t always see the ponies loose in the Park, one must assume that they are confined in some facility where they are being starved. I am not exaggerating about the disgraceful condition of these ponies and I encourage all animal lovers to go to the National Park and have a look at the condition of these animals and to lend their voices to protest against this shameful and unacceptable situation.
