Leading Ratings Kenroy Fraser and Henry Caesar of the Coast Guard were yesterday morning arrested by Guyana Defence Force military police at their homes at Belladrum, West Coast Berbice for desertion.
A release from the GDF said that the two are currently undergoing medical examination at the GDF’s medical centre at Base Camp Ayanganna. This is a standard procedure, the GDF said.
Caesar had been a deserter for over a year, the release said. Fraser went absent without leave (AWOL) soon after his return to Guyana after completing studies in the USA in Hydraulic Systems and Equipment/Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
He was one of the 10 deserters named by the GDF in a recent advertisement.
The ranks are to be court-martialled, the GDF said.
