The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) assisted sixth form CAPE students from St. Stanislaus College with transportation to the Iwokrama Centre for Rainforest Conservation and Development for their educational tour from March 23-26.
A release said that the Force responded to the request for assistance by the students’ biology teacher, Deokie Lakhan for transportation for the group of 11 final year CAPE students and three teachers to the Region 8 Iwokrama field station.
According to the release, the teacher said that the tour was organised so that the students who will be writing their biology examinations shortly, could gain valuable practical exposure to some of the requirements of the CAPE curriculum.
These include concepts and practises in conservation and ecological issues in relation to flora and fauna in the forest system.
