Linden’s Guinness Greatest of the Streets football tournament which commenced at the Wisroc/Amelia’s Ward Bus Park last Sunday saw wins for
Cherokee Park, Speightland and Coomacka United among others.
In the opening game, Cherokee Park defeated PokerBurg 1-0 with Aubrey Fredericks netting the winning goal in the 12th minute.
In the second game, Speightland defeated South Stars by two goals to nil with Allan Gordon in the fourth minute and Julian Roberts in the sixth minute the goal scorers.
Coomacka United then sent Exodus packing with a 3-0 whipping. The goal scorers were Dorwin Daw, who netted a double in the fourth and 11th minutes and Adrian Edmunson, who scored in the 17th minute.
Top Class was anything but classy as they were hammered 4-0 by Mini Bus whose John Waldron netted a brace in the seventh and eight minutes. Ray Bobb Semple in the fourth minute and Seon Brewley in the 15th minutes scored the remaining goals for Mini Bus.
Silent Assassins overcame Barsenal by three goals to one with Romain Haynes netting a double in the ninth and 20th minutes respectively after Quacy Johnson opened the account in the seventh minute.
Darwayne Duke was on target in a losing cause in the second minute.
Goal Getters and Wisroc played to a 1-1 draw in the sixth encounter of the evening. Roy Griffith opened the scoring for Goal Getters in the very first minute while Clarence Huggins equalized in the 18th minute for Wisroc.
In the final engagement of the evening, Hard Knocks edged Eagles by two goals to one through strikes from Calvin David and Oswald Benjamin in the fourth and 20th minutes respectively with Derron Smith netting in the 15th minute for Eagles.
