The Crabwood Creek farmer Phagoo Maniram aka Radesh, who was found dead, on his farm on Wednesday morning died by asphyxia due to drowning.
This was revealed after an autopsy was carried out on the body yesterday morning. The autopsy examination was conducted by pathologist Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan at the Skeldon Hospital.
According to a female relative, the result is questionable but they have to accept it. The woman noted that, the family believes that the 56-year-old man might have fallen into a corner drain and swallowed water which caused him to drown.
However, a police source said that the man’s body was found next to a shallow drain. The source explained that the man would have drowned since, he was intoxicated.
Maniram was last seen alive by his relatives on Tuesday, before he left for his farm in the CWC back lands. On Wednesday morning, Premnauth Maniram a brother had told reporters that the family had received a call and was told that Phagoo’s camp had been burnt down.
The brother said he went to the scene along with six lawmen where they found Phagoo’s lifeless body.
The brother noted that, the body was found some 45 feet away from the camp which was burnt.
It was also indicated that the man was drunk when he spoke to his wife on Tuesday night.
The man is expected to be laid to rest on Sunday.
