Former Caribbean U13 champion and present Caribbean U15 silver medallist Chelsea Edghill has received sponsorship in the lead up to her participating in the second Youth Olympic Games scheduled for Nanjing, China next year.
The company throwing its weight behind Edghill’s quest to be able to compete at the 2014 games is none other than the Continental Group Of Companies, under their Continental Foods brand. Continental Foods are the distributors of Sunburst Juices.
On Thursday, Corporate Secretary of the Continental Group of Companies, Percival Boyce, at the company’s location, Industrial Site Ruimveldt, said that the company was happy to sponsor Edghill as she commences her journey towards the second Youth Olympic Games declaring that “she will have the support provided by the company as she begins her ascension to new heights.”
Boyce thanked the athlete’s family for allowing the company to make their contribution towards the athlete’s success pointing out that all the needs of the athlete will be met as she progresses from tournament to tournament.
“All the support she needs to get over those hurdles will be available for her when she needs them,” Boyce declared.
President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Godfrey Munroe, expressed his gratitude towards the sponsors.
“The GTTA thanks the Continental Group for their support and wants to rekindle the partnership between the two entities,” said Munroe.
The 15-year-old Edghill in brief remarks said that she was “glad and grateful and thanked her new sponsors for their support and endorsement.
Now that she has a great team at her side, the table tennis star said that the “sky’s the limit.”
