The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) edge Fruta Conquerors 1-0 in a physical encounter to book their semi-final spot as quarterfinal action in the Mayor’s Cup Football Tourney concluded at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground Bourda Sunday night.
Highlighted by combative play and a dearth of creative openings, GDF through a Marlon Benjamin 30 second minute goal from within the six yard box proved to be enough to defeat the youthful Tucville unit.
Attacking from the wider areas, the breakthrough came as wily winger Delwyn Fraser, upon receiving a pass from the midfield area, cheekily skipped past his on rushing defensive marker before crossing the ball into the path of an unmarked Benjamin who simply slotted home.
