After seven rounds of gruelling competition in the Brainstreet Under 15 100 overs cricket tournament the bowlers have been dominant evidenced by the seven five wicket hauls.
In contrast, the batsmen have struggled to make big scores as evidenced by the highest score of the tournament thus far being the 99 made by Timothy McAlmont for Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) A against the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC).
Transport Sports Club’s (TSC) Collin Barlow so far has the best bowling figures of the tournament with 6/10 against DCC `B’ bowling medium pace.
Andrew Clifford of the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) grabbed five wickets against GCC while Onika Wallerson impressed with 5/9 for the ladies against TSC.
TSC’s Jamal Michael took 5/10 against GYO and 5/20 against Queen’s College bowling off spin, while Queen’s College’s Hassed Hamid took 5/31 against TSC.
Transport Sports Club’s Joel Spooner took 5/34 against GCC with his off breaks.
This weekend rounds eight and nine will be played as the teams scramble for play off spots. Today the Ladies face Queen’s College at Eve Leary, Transport Sports Club plays GNIC at the Muslim Youth Organization ground and Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) play GCC at Camp Road.
Tomorrow QC visits DCC A in Queenstown and the Ladies visit Everest at Camp Road.
The semi final and final of the Brainstreet Under 15 tournament will most likely be contested next weekend.
DCC A will be strong favorites to retain their title after already establishing themselves at the top of the points table.
In the points standing DCC A have 104 points from 6 matches, Gandhi Youth Organization have 90 from 6, Everest Cricket Club has 64 from 5, Guyana National Industrial Corporation 62 from 4, Transport Sports Club 47 from 6, Georgetown Cricket Club 38 from 6, Demerara Cricket Club `B’ 37 from 6, Ladies 29 from 4 and last year’s semi finalists Queen’s College, 27 points from 5 matches.
