Last Friday, Bosai Mineral Inc. made two donations to benefit the residents of Region Ten when it donated six computers to the Region Ten Education Department and $400,000 towards the Linden Town Week event.
A release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said that the computers are to assist in the teaching of Information Technology (IT) and will enhance the education sector of Region 10. This will help to promote computer literacy and will assist students to acquire skills to prepare them for employment.
The General Manager of Bosai Mineral Inc., George Zhao said that it was a great honour for them to give back to the community and the company will continue to do so. Bosai has always supported the Linden Town Week, and last year the company had donated $1M to the event. However, while this year’s cash contribution is less, the company will also sponsor one of the contestants in the pageant and will be distributing 60 hampers valued at $10,000 each to senior citizens; along with making other forms of contributions to the event.
GINA said that Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Robert Persaud who witnessed the handover expressed satisfaction that Bosai was giving back to Region Ten.
The Minister highlighted that the company’s investment in bauxite mining in Region Ten had created job opportunities for residents.
Minister Persaud took the opportunity to inform the residents of Linden that Budget 2013 will play a role in the development of the region, as close to $8B has been budgeted for Region 10; of which $2.9B is for an electricity subsidy which would work out to every customer benefiting by approximately $200,000 annually, GINA added.
