The trial of Marlon Braithwaite, who is accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend, began in the High Court yesterday before Justice James Bovell-Drakes and a 12-member jury.
Braithwaite, of Buxton, East Coast Demerara, is on trial for the murder of Sharmin McKay.
It is alleged that on June 10, 2009, at Bachelor’s Adventure Backlands (Bare Root), the accused repeatedly stabbed McKay, inflicting wounds that resulted in her death.
He is represented by defence counsel Bernard De Santos, while the state’s case is being presented by Dhanika Singh and Tishana James.
The case will continue tomorrow.
