A juvenile, yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and was remanded to police custody pending a probation report, after he admitted to stealing a car which was parked outside of the Citizens Bank by a Guyana Defence Force officer.
The allegation against the lad is that on April 5, at Camp Street he stole a motor car valued $1.1M, property of Abena Fung, a Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) Marketing Executive.
Court documents stated that Fung’s husband parked the car with the engine on and went to the ATM at the Citizens Bank to withdraw money, when the teenager allegedly stole the car.
The car was subsequently recovered in Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara.
The matter will be called again on April 15.
